Q: GallBladder Removal??

When I was pregnant 14 years ago, gallstones showed up on my ultrasound.
I have never had an issue with them until recently.

1.5 years ago, I started taking Yazmin birth control pills. Then about 9 months later, I had an attack (I thought it was the heart burn/flu). I had 3 attacks about 1 month after each other. They symptoms got worse. The final one was 9 hours of vomiting. Yuck.
That is when they figured out I was having gallbladder attacks.

The last attack was in April, when coincidentally, I went of Yazmin.
I have not had any attacks or pains since April, but I am schedule to have surgery next month to have it removed. I have had blood tests done and they showed no signs of inflammation.

I have read that 80% of gallbladders do not really need to be removed.
I really do not want to have this removed if I do not have to.

Since I am off the Yasmin, and have not had any pains in 6 months, is it reasonable that I am thinking of cancelling my surgery?

Please help.
Very confused.

I would ask your doctor about this because if you cancel this operation and then a couple of months later you get the pain back you might have to go on a long waiting list because you cancelled the last one...Jenny

Silent Stone, removal
I have done some more reading and I found out that what I have are Silent Stones. They never gave me any problems until I was on Yasmin birth control (which there is a current lawsuit regarding this). But now I am off it and not having any problems again. This weekend I had a huge amount of deep fried foods, bacon, cake, candy with no issues.
Having a hard time justifying surgery when I am not having any issues. Mainly my concern is the side effects after that many people suffer from.

I am going to my doctor this afternoon, but we never see eye to eye on things, so not optimistic that this will help.

Any thoughts or opinions are welcome.
