The two most frequent pathological conditions that affect the gallbladder are: gall stones and inflammation of the gallbladder. The gallstones might often cause inflammation of the gallbladder all by themselves.

The presence of gallstones in the gallbladder requires removal of the gallbladder in many cases. However, if no gallstones are found, the inflammation might be treated with anti-inflammatory drugs without the need for surgery. Please understand that this condition is rather rare.

If gallstones are detected in the gallbladder and no pain is present, then nutritionists suggest that taking food rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids for a longer period might increase the quantity of the produced bile, thus enabling dissolving of the gallstones.
