Q: Gallbladder funcion 3 percent
asked by: DoctorQuestion on September 1st, 2009
I found out 2 weeks ago that my gallbladder is functioning at 3 percent. I now have to wait 2 weeks to see a sugeon. Should I be afraid of it rupturing? I have had many symptoms for the last 2 years but just now figured out what it was once things have gotten worse.

I am assuming that you underwent a CCK-HIDA scan for right upper abdominal pain, and you were told that you have a gallbladder ejection fraction of 3 percent. This condition is usually referred to as biliary dyskinesia, and it is not associated with any risk of gallbladder rupture.

You should remain on a very low-fat diet until you can be evaluated and treated by a surgeon.
