Q: Gall bladder pain and its source
asked by: DoctorQuestion on October 27th, 2008
have been through a Barium Swallow test, Barium enema, Ultrasound
, CT Scan which show no Gallstones and everything looks normal I also recently went through an MRI which I don't have the results for yet. Most of the times my blood work is fine I had one where my pancreatic enzymes were raised but they were normal the next time.

Last night was a really bad one as it hurt just to have the pillow beside my stomach and my legs also started throbbing, the only thing that was missing last night was the sharp pain in the back and right shoulder.

Current medical status: Indigestion with pain in center & to the right under my breast bone and in my back and upper right sholder
Current medical treatment: Tylenol

“Pain in center and to the right under my breast bone and in my back and upper right shoulder” sounds like pain that originates from the gallbladder (“colica biliaris”). Beside gallstones, bile pain can be also caused by certain functional gallbladder disorders. A HIDA scan can help doctors to reveal if there is a functional gallbladder disorder causing your pains.

Pain like you described can also be present in case of a peptic ulcer of the stomach or duodenum. Only an upper endoscopy (gastroduodenoscopy) can confirm or exclude presence of a peptic ulcer.
