OK how many women had gained weight the 1st 3 months of the depo shot? Ok my friend is 90lbs, she had a baby 6 months ago and she completely lost er appetite. She s going to school and stuff so she doesnt have time for another baby. She wants to get on the depo shot but doesnt know because the last thing she needs is to loose the little bit of weight she has left. (they say some women loose or gain)so we would love for you smart females ( yall know we smart as hell LOL) to help us out with our questions Thank u so very much and god bless

P.S Most women gain weight from it dont they? Especially the skinny ones, right?

If she wants to gain weight and she's completly healthy otherwise, then she'll need to eat a better diet.

I have a hard time putting on weight too, here's some foods to stick to that have helped me.

Its not a garuntee.

Her appetite may be affected (depo doesn't affect weight directly). But if she pays close attention to her portion size and the food that she puts in then its very possible that she could gain weight if she wanted to.

She just needs to eat the right amount of the right stuff-- unless she's not otherwise healthy. Has she been to a doctor about her extreme weight loss?

Yes she has but shes not loosing anymore weight she just lost her appetite shes like 92lbs right now so she ok right? I mean she gained a pound in a week so its better than nothing. She doesnt like a lot of foods so she would like for you to give her a list of stuff that have a lot of protein and that can make her gain healthy weight. And how to excersice so she can stimulate her muscle growth too , It'll help her a lot she would greatly appreciate it. Thankx

Ohh. Does the shot have the same hormonal medication as the pill?

All pills are different, but the shot does not contain estrogen-- just progesterone.

I already gave a list of helpful foods. I'll get started on some good workouts later this weekend.

Have your friend join ehealth. She can either start a new topic or she can pm me directly. Ok? Smile

I was on Depo Provera and put on about six pounds. I've never heard of anyone losing weight on birth control. All the ones I know of have weight gain as a side effect.

It might affect your appetite, not your weight directly.

Quote:
Weight changes: One of the effects of the hormone is to increase appetite. About 66% of women gain weight,
20% lose weight, and 10% have no change in their weight. You can avoid this weight gain by eating a low-fat diet and exercising regularly.

Maybe.

Its not a sure thing, I have no idea how the hormone will affect her.

But propper diet and exercise works almost every time.

You're adding a variable (the depo shot) that doesn't need to be there. If she wants to gain weight then she's going to have to eat correctly and exercise.

Has she by chance looked into all the depo side effects?
