My daughter has cerebral palsy and is 15 years old. She been diagnosed with OCD and has been recently having issues with gagging herself. Not to induce vomiting but just to have the gagging sensation. She does this when anxious and it is becoming more and more harder for her to control. She only does this when she is alone and I try to keep her occupied and busy but she is very overwhelmed by it and I do not know what to do. She is highly functioning and is in regular education classes and will be in the tenth grade this year. I feel that she needs to be in therapy for her ocd but my husband thinks that we can handel this but I do not know what to do. I am overwhelmed and lost on what to do for my child. Does anyone have any advice. I will do anything to help her I just don't know what that is.

Extremely eHealthy
The cause for her over active gag reflex is probably the cerebral palsy.
It is well known that people with cerebral palsy have abnormal reflexes, and the cerebral palsy patient will also have a hyper-active gag reflex.
Anxiety due to OCD only heightens her gag reflex even more.
Talk with some neurologist or dentists about medication treatment using sedatives, anesthetics and other drugs that will prevent it.
Hypnosis is the other possible therapy.
Consult her physician for OCD treatment with cognitive-behavioral therapy.

Best wishes!
