fwb or more?

So, I can't tell if this guy I met recently wants to be just fwb or more. I met him from a friend at a party 2 weeks ago. We actually went to the same high school but never talked then just knew about each other. We have a lot of mutual friends so its surprising we haven't met sooner. Anyways, we were talking a lot at this party and everyone passed out around 5am so he offered me a ride home. He asked if I wanted to spend the night at his place when we got in the car, and I said yes. We didn't have sex that night but we talked and made out for hours and eventually fell asleep spooning. I texted him the next day after that event to hang out again and yes we did have sex that time but we also talked and layed together in bed for hours again. I also spent the night, he asked me too and drove me home the next day. And again two days ago I invited him over to hang out with me and a mutual friend. Our friend passed out early so me and him hung out alone playing video games. He was getting touchy so I knew he wanted to have sex. We went to my room and had sex and we fell asleep again cuddling. The next morning he decided to stay for a couple hours. We layed in my bed for 4hrs talking and fooling around and cuddling. He then invited me out for lunch and payed and drove me home. That was yesterday and I feel like I'm going crazy! I don't know if he just wants to have sex with me or if he is actually interested in dating me. I have had fwb situations before and we never acted like this together. We never spent the night together or cuddled and talked for hours on end or even took me out for lunch. Another factor making me think he just wants to be fwb is his ex and him just broke up a couple months ago. They were together for 3yrs and she cheated on him many times. But he did tell me he still cares about her and wants to be friends. I don't know what he wants... its frustrating, but I'm too shy to ask mostly for fear of rejection. My long term bf broke up with me just over a year ago and I finally feel ready to date and this is the first crush I have had since my ex. Seeing as I haven't had many fwb is this normal to do or do you think he might want more?
