Hi, I have an ultrasound next week. My problem is, the hospital I'm going to is 45 min. away. They told me to drink 32oz of water 1 hour before the appointment. I don't know if I'll be able to hold that much for that long. If I'm about 12-13 weeks along, will they be able to see the baby even if my bladder isn't as full as it's suppose to be?

No, my wife recently had to go in, and got the exact same instructions. She decided to just drink a 12oz pop. When she got there, they said she wasn't full enough and she had to drink more and wait. So our appointment ended up taking forever. Also, if you have to drink after you get there, you end up getting bumped back, and having to hold longer. The next time we did in, she bought a 32oz gatorade at the gas station and drank it 45 minutes before, everything went perfectly.

the only reason they say have a full bladder is because it helps push the uterus closer to the surface for a better view. telling a pregnant women to have a full bladder before a sono is funny but basically just tells you dont pee right before you go in. i work 15 min away from my doc and went to the bathroom before i got there still wanted to run to the bathroom when i got there but didn't. as long as you drink normally and wait to pee till after your sono instead of before any pregnant women should be fine
