Q: Frustrating dream about ex-boyfriend.

My ex-boyfriend and I had been together off and on for 2 years and it was a very rocky relationship.. and we broke up nearly a year ago.

Just last night, I had the most vivid and realistic dream about him..I happened to bump into him downtown (even though he lives half way around the world) and then he took me shopping (which he hates...) and out for dinner.

Then he told me that he has to go back to his hotel before 10 pm and wouldn't tell me why, so I followed him in except I was a tad too slow and could not figure out where he went.

Turns out there was a fighting tournament going on (I hate fights and he used to always get into them) and I saw his name on the list of participants...

I don't remember much of what happened afterward but its frustrating to dream of him when I just want to forget him (like I said, it was a very rocky relationship).

Even years later, it's normal to dream about people from your past once in a while. I still dream about running into my high school ex (even though we broke up 10 years ago and I'm in a great relationship now) or old friends form elementary school, or old teachers.

Don't think of it as a hint from your brain that you should get back together or anything like that. Maybe you just have some unresolved issues with him (totally normal) that your brain is trying to work out. As time goes on, you'll think about him less and less, especially once you get a new guy who you really love.

And I agree with Caroline. It sounds like you made the right decision.
