Vaginal bleeding may occur during or after sexual intercourse for a number of reasons including:
Injuries to the vaginal wall or introitus (opening to the vagina) during intercourse
Infections (for example, gonorrhea, chlamydia, yeast infections) can be a cause of vaginal bleeding after intercourse.
Lowered estrogen levels in peri-menopausal or postmenopausal women may cause the lining of the vagina to become thinned and easily inflamed or infected, and these changes can be associated with vaginal bleeding after intercourse.
Anatomical lesions, such as tumors or polyps on the cervix or vaginal wall may lead to vaginal bleeding during or after intercourse.
Women who experience vaginal bleeding during or following sexual intercourse should always visit their doctor to determine the cause of the bleeding.
the pain is in the abdomin like cramps and around "the hole". i have been through a lot in the past year from child birth vaginally, having a episiotomy, having an abnormal pap smear and havin a biopsy for that resulting in pre cancer being found in my cervix or uterus then having to have them removed (colposcopy). yes we have plenty of lubrication.the pain last for a couple hours. i dont have a clue whats goin on
If you're on NuvaRing, some people will have bleeding and painful intercourse, and it's from the ring.
It may be that all is well, but I think you need to get to the gynecologist real soon. I don't want to scare you, but my mom had exactly your symptoms and she was not well; she had stage 4 endometrial cancer.
thnk you so much for your advice. i had a irregular pap in august of 2008 and it came bk that i just had pre cancer cells in my cervix and i had them removed. but the problems havn't stopped. i have constant problems. and nothing seems to be getting better
