I'll start with the important part. My last period was April 24 - 29the usual. I was expecting it .. by now.

Between the time of May 15th - May 24, my husband and I had frequent, unprotected sex. We're not aiming to have a child, but we are in no way turning down the opportunity.

Around May 20 - May 21, I had an abnormal feeling. I'm very in tune with my body and something felt different, that night there was a slight pink discharge on the toilet paper. In the following time frame up until now, I have have frequently been urinating, nauseous, extremely lethargic and exhausted in general, odd eating habits, tender and, seemingly, enlarged breasts ( My bras fit smaller than usual ) and, of course, late period. On the 27th, I took a HPT and got a negative result. Still, I was waiting until Monday and going to head in to the doctor if nothing.

Last night, there was a dark, not quite brown but extremely dark, blood on the toilet paper. Not anywhere but when I wiped, and it was accompanied by mild cramping. Today, there has been a constant dull, throbbing pain and bleeding, but again only when I wipe. The concern with this is that also there is a large amount of blood that comes out when I use the bathroom, similar to a period, but not any other time. There isn't enough to fill a pad or come out at any other time.

I haven't been ill, or stressed really. A negative test at first, but I am just hoping for input. I tried calling the hospital to ask, my family doctor isn't open on the weekends, and they do not take questions. I've talked to a few friends that are nurses and got conflicting answers. Two say this is normal in pregnancies, one say it's just an obscure period.

Is this a cause for a concern? Am I pregnant? Was pregnant? Should I take another test either later tonight or tomorrow morning despite the bleeding?
