I am 34. At age 18 I had very heavy periods, ultra sound showed a thickening in the uterus lining, I had a D&C and was put on bc pills. They gave me headaches and I stopped them. Years later, in 2001 I began taking Depo Provera shot for heavy periods. In 2004/2005 I had DVT/TIA and was told to stop the depo. All that got resovled, and in 2008 I needed to be on bc for actual BIRTH control...after long discussion with PCP I went back on Depo Provera. Knowing the risks of long term use, etc...she didn't want me on it for that long, my partner had a vesectomy so my last shot of depo was March 2011. In August I had very light bleeding for 2 days. A few weeks later I had a normal period in September, but then I've had a period every 10-14 days since then. In November, it was nearly non-stop, reg period then spotting or blood with wiping for a few days then right back to normal period flow. Realizing things weren't balancing out on their own I saw my PCP last week, I have a familiy history of thyroid so she checked that and other blood tests. All came back normal so she ordered a pelvic ultrasound. I have that next week.

I have also had night sweats for the past several months, no change in the the temp we keep the house or the blankets I use. I wake up soaked, sheets wet, night shirt wet, I have to let my sheets get air to dry during the day and am washing them more often than usual.

I was also diagnosed with IBS a few years ago. And have had past abdominal surgery including hernia repair so of course I have occasional pain in my abdomin but as far as periods, I do not have severe cramping, or anything more than perhaps the first day mild cramps that I take a couple advil.
