Q: Frequent palpitations

Hey all, I'm 20 years old and have had heart palpitations since I was about 14. They occur after any kind exertion, my heart flutters and stays at quite a high rate for a long time. After exercise, a hard thumping, racing sensation will always occur when bending over to pick something up. The heart palpitations occur always during and after excercise. This is very stressful for me and is hindering my plans. I have wanted to be an Officer for many years, but stopped exercising out of fear of the heart problems, and so began a vicious circle of becoming more and more unfit. Should I go to the doctors for an evaluation, maybe consider beta blockers? Any help would be hugely appreciated.
