Q: Frequent Headaches Since Childhood

Ever since I was about 6 - 8 years old I've suffered from headaches. Usually they occured once a week and since they had said on the news at that time that children shouldn't suffer more than 2 headaches a month I was intrigued but I paid no mind to it. Now that I'm 19, I still suffer from them and they occur 3-4 times a week. Aspirins of any kind don't work so I don't take them at all. But lately I seem to get almost severe pain on my right side. Sometimes it's throbbing, sometimes it hurts once, then a couple of minutes go by and it hits me again, and again. I usually feel dizziness with my headaches and also with these severe ones. I feel no nausea or need to vomit. My vision gets a little rought around the edges and sometimes I lose my balance. The severe ones don't happen often, but the past days they've been ocurring. I eat well. Should I be worried about these headaches? My parents have never wanted to take me to a doctor because they say it's unimportant. That it's just in my mind.

I think you are suffering from a type of migraine headache.
Acctually, 20% of all migraineurs have their first migraine attack before they are even 5 years old.
Is the pain severe throbbing headache at the back of the head on both sides?

Do you usually get visual disturbances starting in one eye, and then gradually spreading to cover the entire field of vision (leading to temporary blindness), before experiencing the headache?

Do you feel uncoordinated and unable to walk?

Are you experiencing ringing in ears, prickling sensations in your body, arms and face with changing levels of consciousness?

There's severe throbbing on the right side only. Sometimes slightly to the back. Rarely it just goes all around my head.

Yes it starts in one eye, my right eye. But it's not like blindness it's like my vision becomes a little rough around the edges. Kinda whitish but I can still see well.

I just feel a little uncoordinated when I walk but I can still walk, it goes away fast (the walking thing anyways).

My ears aren't ringing, my finger tips hurt (like my bones), but nothing more.

It's been a long time since my last post!
How are you?
Have you thought for visiting a neurologist?
What's the usual duration of headache attack?
Visual disturbances, that accompany migraine headache can affect central or peripheral part of vision field.
