Q: Fractured Rod

Hello ~
I had an anterior/posterior spine fusion at L5 S1 in 2006. I was doing pretty well for some time when I started having more pain. In 2008 I had a CT myelogram and everything looked good so I was referred to pain management. To make a long story short I went to a new neurosurgeon who told me my fusion never healed and it seemed that the rods/screws/pins were coming apart (pardon me but I don't remember the correct terminology that was used). I just found out that I have a lateral fracture in one of the rods ~ or was it a lateral rod that had a fracture? I had a CT scan and MRI w/ contrast last month. I want this fixed. My question is: will my doctor possibly recommend that I don't have this fixed and just leave it? I feel like the year it took to have the surgery and recover (yeah it took me forever!) was wasted now. I really want this fixed!
