It is not uncommon for joints to develop discomfort when there has been an injury somewhere else on that limb.

You have a change in your ambulation and this can cause discomfort in the hip. As the foot heals, and you go back to your "normal" gait, the hip pain should also decrease.

In the mean time, if needed, to prevent excessive limping or an abnormal gait, try using a cane in the hand opposite the injured foot. This will take a lot of stress off the injured side, yet it will allow you to maintain a normal gait pattern.
