Hi, i've been on the pill for almost 8 years now. I got my last period a week ago and forgot to start taking my pills when the period ended. is it safe to just start taking the pills now? one week after my period stopped? will the pills in this case still be effective? Thank you!

Welcome to ehealthforum,
If there has been a gap of more than 7 days in starting with the active pills/new pill pack, the effective protection will take about 2 weeks time to start again. Avoid unprotected intercourse during first 2-3 weeks of the new pill pack use. Consider using back-up protection for additional protection against pregnancy. Visit your doctor/gynecologist for further clarification and assistance.
