Q: Foot Pain

I've had pain in my right foot for four days now. At first in only hurt when I bent my foot and put pressure on it, like when walking, just above my big toe more on top of my foot. It didn't hurt when just sitting with no pressure, and it didn't hurt if I bent it with my hand without putting pressure on it. There are no signs of bruising or anthing visible, my foot looks just like it always does, maybe a little swelling.
Now it is hurting on the top of my foot as well, spreading more toward my ankle, and it aches a little even when I'm not walking. It hurts enough when I walk that I am walking on the outside of my foot to avoid putting pressure on the ball of my foot/big toe, and I'm trying to avoid walking as much as possible because it causes so much pain. No big event happened that would cause foot pain, like falling or tripping, and I feel like if it were broken I would know it. Should I go to a doctor? I hate going and paying just to be told to tough it out and take ibuprofin. What should I do?
