Went To Lahey Clinic in early October, 2011. Department Chair of Allergy/Immunology supervised desensitization.
2 day protocol well worth the time. Am feeling 100% better. Overall "stuffiness" in sinus greatly relieved. Have taken Advair only three times since process. Sense of smell slowly returning. It is still very early, but results are encouraging.
Desensitization day 1 started at 8:00am. Given 10mg singulair and 400mg zyflo. Then 30 mg aspirin. At 11:00am, given 60mg aspirin(ASA). Lunch in treatment room. At 2:00pm given 120mg ASA. Could have been given more zyflo... do not recall.
Experienced severe asthmatic symptoms starting about 7:00 until 2:00am. Took 2 benedryl as I did not bring any of my medications.
Day 2, Dr. fully aware of previous night. Given 1 singulair and 1 zyflo at 8:30am followed by a hit of Advair 250/50 and 2 hits of Proventil. ASA started at about 9:00am with 160mg. At 11:30 given 325mg of ASA. Another zyflo 600. At about 2:30 given 650mg ASA. Follow up with Dr. at 4:30. Given another zyflo before departure. Orders to take another at 9:00pm.
Protocol was for 650mg ASA 2 times/day. Asked if I could try 325mg ASA two times a day. Said ok but to watch. Recommended maintenance is 650mg ASA 2 times/day.
Am taking 1 600mg zyfloCR in morning 1/2 hr before 325mg ASA and the same in evening. Still taking 1 claritin/day for allergies along with maintenance immunothreapy every three weeks. Told to stop zyflo after two weeks.
Dr. John Saryan knows this stuff cold.
Feeling great! Pray it continues.
