I've just realized the breakfast cereal i have contains folic acid but i have also been taking folic acid supplements as i am trying to get pregnant, i was wondering if it is safe for me to carry on taking both?

You're fine. Unless you are eating massive quantities of the cereal, there is no chance that you are taking too much folic acid. Just like you take the RDA of many vitamins when you take a multivitamin, you get additional amounts from the foods you eat.
