Q: fluid sound in ear

I have had a constant fluid sound in my right ear for about 4 years now. It gets worse if I bend my head in a certain direction. When I apply pressure on the right side of my neck, it stops completely.

I have been to an ENT, had test done on my hearing and had the inside of my ears checked, and the doctor found nothing wrong with me. He actually said the hearing in my right ear (the ear in question), is better than the left.

I had some allergy problems a few years back when it first started. It was the first time in my life that I had really bad sinus problems and nasal allergies in spring fall and winter...I was particularly allergic to mold. But a year ago was the last allergy attack I had. I have been really good for about a year.

So now I am left with this constant annoying fluid sound and wondering if it might be a vein ready to burst or something seriously wrong with my inner ear. Nonetheless, it is very disturbing to hear this constant sound, when I think about it I begin to worry...although my doctors say I am absolutely fine.

please let me know your thoughts...this is quite perplexing.
Much thanks.

I don't know exactly what would cause this for four years, but this kind of thing happened to me when I had a serious ear infection. I swear I even felt fluid drip down to my teeth! A short while after the pain was gone, I still heard the fluid sound. I have some sort of sinus problem. But, it's not serious. MAYBE these things are related somehow. Even sometimes when I get colds, which effect the sinuses, I can hear those sounds, too. Only they're not constant. I don't think it's anything serious, but you could try to get a second opinion. I'd find it disturbing too if I kept hearing this sound!
