flu-like feeling with achey knees and fatigue
Posted: 01-19-08 15:15pm

For the past couple years I have felt like I have a low-grade flu OFTEN it never develops into anything and it just kind of comes and goes. Sometimes out of nowhere my knees will just ACHE! Also, I get SOO Fatigued. My skin has been getting light patches that are really rough and I have a whole bunch of other random symptoms that appear out of nowhere. My doctor did a pre-lupus/rheumatoid arthritis blood test a few months back but it came back negative. I am only 23 years old and my mom has lupus. Her grandpa also passed away from Lupus. I am just wondering for those of you out there.....what were your very first signs of lupus and how old were you? Did you find out right away? Is there a chance that I really could be pre-lupus and it just didn't show up on the blood test? Just wanting to find some answers as to why I never feel good!!

remission vrs blood test keep checking

Hello,
I was just diagnosed with Lupus six years ago and now on remission. I feel a bit tired at times through some of the day and try to pace my work.
When first diagmosed, the doctors had no clue I even had the disease through blood tests. I think it was on remission. Kind of like the disease is in hybernation.
But if you are having these symptoms all the time you may want to contact a rheumatologist and keep on having blood test for Lupus every month to keep an eye on it. Keep an eye on your platelet count, white blood cells, and red blood cells especially.
White blood cells will tell you if you have anything really going on. I became an expert after taking monthly lab work with urine and blood work. Its a pain in the ... but it could save your life!
Take care of your health and keep us posted.
Joanne
Take care.
