I was diagnosed with TMJ about two months ago and my doctor Told me to take Flexeril in combination with Physical Therapy, It finally was producing some good results slowly but surely, and i know that flexeril is only meant for use at a 3 week time, so i stopped taking it about 5 days ago and gradulaly all my bad sypmtoms are returning like the pressure in my head neck jaw and ears, each day a little more. I am gonna take it again tonight for some relief tomorrow but i just was wondering if anyone knew anything about flexeril, if long term use is bad for you, effects on liver ect. or should i look into another similiar med. taht is intended for long term use. Thanks
Jessica

I read a few patient reviews and the opinions seem varied. Some people said that they need it to maange the pain, but other recognize that Flexeril over time can hurt a social and professional life. But generally, use of FLEXERIL for periods longer than two or three weeks is not recommended. This is because adequate evidence of the effectiveness of Flexiril is not available for more prolonged use. Plus, muscle spasm is generally of short duration so that specific therapy for longer periods is not justified.

well, see I only take it at night and by morning I dont feel any efects from it , like groggy or tired i just dont feel the pain. So it doesnt really affect my daily life when i do take it.

But i do know what your saying about how long it is recommended for =/ I guess I'll just keep takikng it until my prescription wears out and ask the doctor from that point. Thanks for your input !
