Fleshy clot and Negative pregnancy test

I had a fleshy clot like someone else in these forums, but when I took an at home pregnancy test (two days after the clot) the result was negative. Could it still have been a miscarriage? Could the hormones be gone that quickly? Should I seek emergency care? What else might it be? I'm really concerned, but my husband seems to think that because the test was negative there is no reason to worry. Should I just relax and let it pass? My period has gone back to normal (two days after the clot).
