I am 18 years old and I decided to have sex with my boyfriend of three months. Our first time was on June 2nd. I was on the fourth day of my period. We used a condom with no problems, but I bled TERRIBLY (for about 20 minutes non-stop) and it was excruciating! We tried again on the 4th with no problems, using a condom. I still bled a little afterwards, and it was still a little painful, but OH SO much better than attempt #1.

The first day of my last period was May 30th. I should have had my next period June 27th. I am usually shockingly normal, so obviously I am freaking out. I AM FIVE DAYS LATE!

I've had mono over the last month, so I thought that might have something to do with it. On the bright side, I've had cramping on and off all day - what's the verdict? Think I'm pregnant??? Should I test?? Which should I use? and when??

A pregnancy test would be accurate now. You should test.

Relax. Take a test THEN worry about the results. Not knowing is scary - but it may all be a waste of energy.

Take a deep breath and relax.

Yay, not pregnant!Very Happy
If you're having sex, now would be a good time to look into birth control. You'll have more control on not becoming a mom that way-- and it's a lot less stressful.

Also (a little off topic, I know), try a little more lubrication and relax more during sex so maybe it won't hurt so much. If it hurts, something is wrong and you'll need to either take it slower or stop for a moment and try something a little different. If it continues to hurt then you should speak with a doctor. Sex should never be described as "excruciating" and I hope it gets better for you.

Thanks! Yes, I'm going to visit a plannedparenthood center with a friend of mine next week and get a prescription for birth control. I can't go through a freak out like this every month if I'm going to be having sex! The only thing I am worried about is my mom - the two of us are usually so open about stuff, and I fear that not telling her about the fact that i went out and got birth control on my own will tear our relationship if she ever finds out. Sigh.

And good advice on the relaxation... We're going to try both spermicide and lube next time Smile

Re: to maddie34
I understand that. Whern I started thinking about birth control my mom was the last person I wanted to talk to about it, even though we're close. She was a little upset that I didn't go to her at first, but she got over it pretty quick.
