Q: First time on Tri-Lo Sprintec

I got confused about when I should start Tri-Lo Sprintec. I was pretty sure that I had to start the sunday AFTER my period ended but I come to find out it's the Sunday after my period starts. It is currently the Sunday AFTER my period ended and I am wondering if it is still ok for me to start taking Tri-lo for the first time. Will waiting a week after my period ended be bad (I am not worried about pregnancy as I am not sexually active)? My concerns are will the pills work correctly even if I start a week after my period end?

Thanks

The pills will work correctly no matter when you begin taking them. The problem with starting them at a different time is because it may cause your period to be irregular. So, if you are using the pill to regulate your period, starting the pill at the wrong time will probably make things worse, not better. In that case, I would wait to take them with the next period.

That's what I was afraid of. I got the pills to control acne and to ease the period pains (sometimes even vomitting). Thats be horrible if it was worse! Guess I'll have to wait awhile.

Thank you!

Spotting between periods on the new TRI-LO pill???
HI Miss Meister! I totally, 100% understand your confusion on this new Tri-lo stuff. I started mine on the same day my period started, it says we can take them within 24 hours of our period and just readjust the "day of the week stickers." I am wondering tho, have you had any spotting? I've always take Ortho Tri-cyclen Lo and never a problem ('cept nausea when I first start) but this new stuff is making me bleed, more than spotting, like Im wear a light-day pad to keep from ruining my underwear? Are you experiencing the same thing??

help, spotted bleeding due to tri lo sprintec
help i always used ortho tri cycle lo, i started the new sprintec pack as soon as i was done with my last ortho, now im confused cuz i had spotted bleeding as well, but now i am on my 3rd white pill and no period at all, usually i get it around this time. I am soooooo confused, which pills actually cause the bleeding? i hate these pills and i cant wait to get off them. It has caused me to be way more emotional and like i said never in my last 6 years of BC have i had an irregular period, and now i had spotted bleeding like 2 weeks ago for several days. im confused, help please!

Hi Winnabug and Squshetushe.

I'm sorry I can't answer your question. I just started my second pill today because I waited too long to start in August and then I got my period late this month. XD I'll definetely keep an eye on how things go and if I get any spotting, I'll let you know.

I am extremely scared to start to take this tri-lo-sprintec since ive been reading all these posts all over the web how its HORRIBLE and its got the worst side effects, bad acne, bloating, severe headaches, really bad heart murmurs, faiting, bleeding foreverrrr! and relaly bad depression/ mood swing problems. im extrememly scared because im also prescribed to adderall and wellbutrin (anti-depressant) and with mixing tri-lo-sprintec with those meds i dont know if im going to just get ONE BIG horrible side effect that could end my life. its gona be either my 3rd or 4th day (gotaa check) on this pill and i really dont wnna risk my life or sex drive just to have sex with my boyfriend. ive only heard ONE good review from somebody and it was that she got clear skin and bigger boobs. the rest were just compete nightmaresssssssss. im 17 yrs. old somebody please tell me if im going to be okay before i keep taking this or if there's something better i should take! thank youuu =]

I've been on Tri-Lo Sprintec for 2 months now. I've had really bad acne for years before I started and now it's cleared up pretty awesomely. My first period after a month of medication was normal with bad cramping...but like I said, that was the norm. Second time around it's lighten up alot. My mood has been great too, I felt less stressed and annoyed. No complaints so far but it's only been 2 months. Very Happy

I was on Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo for 4 years with no issues and was forced to switch to generic thanks to my new insurance company. Ever since I've been on Tri Lo Sprintec I've been spotting (about two months now),which is really disconcerting since I've never spotted before and initially thought "could this be implantation and I'm pregnant?" I really really wish I could go back to OTC Lo. It worked really well with my body... way better than the Ortho Evra Patch did.
