Sorry you probably get many posts like this one...I just wanted to express my concern regarding a lump in my breast.

I've had this particular lump for a number of years now. I don't ever remember "finding" it, I just remember being concerned about it when I was around 14. My mum and I went to the doctor, he examined me and assured me it's nothing to worry about. I don't recall his exact explanation though. I'm nearly 18 now and it's still there. The lump is in my right breast, it's very firm, and on the side close to the middle of my chest. Every so often there is sharp pain in that breast, and it is also slightly larger than the other.

I'm thinking of going back to the doctor...just for some reassurance...or to act on anything problematic.

Does anyone have any thoughts? I can't help the worry. Does what I've described sound "normal"...or serious? :s

Thankyou

Extremely eHealthy
During puberty, as breasts are developing, is normal to notice slight size difference.
This often, will even out with time, but, in some women it stays persistent, and, it is nothing to worry about.
Do you get this pain mainly in period before the start of your monthly bleeding?
Has the lump changed in size or gotten bigger in a meantime?

thanks for the reply...yeah when I think about it I do get the pain around that time. but then again, why is it only one breast and not the other?

I think the lump has grown a somewhat...then again it could be me just being paranoid.

not sure.
