Hi I am 24yrs and have smoked since about 17yrs. I don't have great circulation and in extreme cold my hands/feet will basically go numb and take longer than most people to warm up again/get the blood flowing, but in normal daily life it's hardly noticable. For about two weeks now my finger tips have been feeling almost as if they are drying up, I am losing sensitivity in them and they appear to be sucking themselves in like wrinkling (like when your in water for long time) and a little bit of whiteness like dry skin around the edges.

I have actualy just given up smoking but I was wondering why this is happening and if it's anything to worry about or something that needs treating, I use computers all day so I am typing alot if that makes any difference, maybe that caused it I don't know, but it's getting worrying as I am losing sensitivity in the actual tips which is a wierd sensation.

Thanks.

You might want to commit to 20-30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise every day to promote circulation and good health. A sedentary job like one in front of a computer requires that people take the time to exercise. Some guidelines are here:

Congratulation on quitting smoking, by the way. That's a big advtanges for your health, but a difficult habit to break!!!

Thanks for the support there rooted, I will try doing the cardio, and you are right about smoking, I found once I broke the mental habit, the rest followed.

My fingers are just plain wierd and it's starting to freak me out a bit I might see a doctor, my sister thinks it's arthiritis!

Please update us when you can. And good luck, buxton! Let us know if you see a doctor, and what the possible diagnosis is.
