Q: Fingers don't extend
asked by: DoctorQuestion on April 27th, 2009
Hi

For as long as I can remember I've had difficulties with my ring and pinkie finger on both hands. The fingers don't extend properly without me forcing them, which can sometimes be painful. I'm double jointed in all my finger, I don't know if that's relevant.

My question is, what could the problem be and what can I do about it?

I've classed this under muscular and nerve disorders but I really have no idea...

Your question involves your difficulty in extending your fingers.

This may be related to a local dysfunction in the muscles in your fingers, or can be a result of structural imbalance in your cervical spine. It is recommended that you have an orthopedic doctor evaluate your neck for possible nerve compression.
