Q: Finger Laceration - Numbness

I sliced my finger pretty good at work a few days ago and had to go to the hospital and get nine stitches to put it back together. The doctor tested it and decided that no tendons had been cut and that no permenant damage had occured.

A couple days later I noticed that one side of my finger directly above the laceration is completely numb, yet I can feel just fine on the other side. After a little research on the web I've come to the conclusion that I must have severed a nerve. My question is, will this fix itself with time, or will I have to have some kind of procedure (if there even is any) to try and put the nerve back together?

my numbness after arm and finger cut.
i cut my forearm on a door all the way to the bone from my wrist to me elbow. the doctor said The same thing to me, no nerve damage, no cut tendons, i was so lucky that i didn't even cut an artery, but the opposite side of my arm has been numb for about two weeks, [ever since the accident] and i can't find anything about it on the internet. i'm worried that it will stay this way for the rest of my life, i'm only 17 after all. but i'm trying to figure out how to gain more feeling back faster. but i had 4 stitches in my finger too, it is numb on the outside but when i squeeze it then i feel pain, if you feel in pain on your finger, it will eventual return to normal. it would just be the outter skin that's numb, which is normal.

UPDATE... Finger Laceration Numbness
Update: It's been a few months since this occured and I'm happy to say I now have feeling in my finger again. Apparantly the nerves will heal themselves eventually (at least they did in my case). Hopefully the same happens for you as well!
