my daughter is 26 yrs old. she's been diagnosed with internal cystitis. has new health probs. trying to find ins before another diagnosis. no ins companies will respond. any advice. new symptoms are life threatening. 5'9 down to 110 lbs she cant stop losing weight due to constant diarrhea. weve done blood tests and found she either has crones disease or an allergic reaction to food additives, they ruled out lupus, we did this out of pocket which for 2 blood tests came to 1500. dollars. the doc told her to get ins before being diagnosed with something else. she needs a colonoscopy to be definitely sure on what she has so we can address it. she is miserable and her quality of life is horrible. she has applied with several ins companies with no responses. in my mind there has to be something for people in her situation even if its high priced that will assist them in getting better...am i wrong? this is a beautiful young woman that used to be so energetic and full of life and happy, down to just being happy shes not sick all day. if anyone has any suggestions or experience in any of this please respond...dont know where to start running out of time. thanks

$1500 for blood work? Good grief... Was this the self pay rate?

I take it that she is not working therefore insurance in which you are seeking would be an individual plan.

If that is the case then there may be provisions regarding pre-existing. However that is determined by the plan itself.

Let me say this: IF she was admitted to the hospital in an emergency situation and she has no insurance they can not turn her away and once she received their bill she could request that they review her case and either adjust the full amount as no income...

Does she have a pretty good relationship with her physician(s)...if so, maybe they could work something out with her...either reduced services or a payment plan.

Ask the administrator / office manager what they would suggest for her to do if they found theirself in this same situation.

Would you daughter qualify for medical care through state assistance, Medicaid?
