Hello. My son was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia a few days ago. At first I was told he had Lupus then this other specialist says it Fibromyalgia. I am so confused. My so who is 14 is very upset with either one of the diagnosis's however the lesser of the two evils seem to be Fibromyalgia. I am feeling like thi still isn't the correct diagnosis. He has al of the symptoms listed for Fibro but he also has all but 2 symptoms for Lupus and positive ANA blood tests. My question is: Do you have swollen ankle or wrist that swell for no reason? Do you ever run a low grade fever? Do you have sores in the mouth? Do you get rashes on the face and chest? when you have Fibromyalgia....

Hi KelliOppen, I can't explain all of your queries, but I was dx with fibromyalgia 4 mths ago and my symptoms were fatigue, muscle pain, poor memory and concentration, restless leg syndrome and breathlessness. I don't have any of the symptoms your son has except regarding the low temp, myself and other fibro sufferers find it hard to control body temperature and are often extremely cold. sorry this mightn't be of much help and I hope your son gets the correct dx soon. there might be a close connection between fibro and lupus as there is between fibro and ME. speak soon.

Kelli,

We found out this past summer that our daughter has Fibromyalgia. She also had the raised ANA level for lupus and rheumatoid arthritist. Yet her levels are not high enough to fall under either category. So the final diagnosis is Fibromyalgia. And like you said we were relieved that it was not the others. Does your son get physical therapy yet? I strongly suggest you get him involved in swimming. It is the best thing in the galaxy for helping to melt away the pain. We have a great team of doctors helping with my daughters FBS. My daughters Rheumatologist just recently prescribed vitamin D once a week. She said that will help with the pain. We use doctors at the Rainbow Babies and Children hospital in Cleveland Ohio. Make sure that your doctors keep you informed. I am looking into a support group for our daughter. They get so very depressed when they have limitations this young. Keep your eyes open for the depression that comes with this and get your doctors right on it. We use Bio-feedback with our daughter at the direction of a Child Psychologist. Is your son on Lyrica? If he is and is still exhibiting a rash it is a reaction to the medication. Let his doctors know. My daughter had swelling in her finger joints and ankles and wrist. Hope I helped in some way. Sincerely
