I was released from the hospital a week ago after 10 days. I was initially diagnosed with pneumonia and they eventually figured out I had mono too. The pneumonia is better but I still feel awful from the mono. Doctors say I can go back to work when I feel ok, which I don't and it has already been 4 weeks. What do I do? Unfortunately Mono can take a toll. It's not unheard of that people drop out of school, and even more extreme as we've seen in the news lately, athletes end their career.
The best outcomes usually happen when you acknowledge your limited abilities instead of trying to push yourself. Many people with prolonged cases wish they had taken more time to rest early on in the illness.
