I hope someone out there has the same thing that I do! I went to the Dr. but he said it was nothing, which doesn't answer what it could be. When I run my fingers along side of my inner upper thighs and inner upper arms I feel a lot of soft lumpy tissue. I have to press hard to feel them. It fells like a bumpy road. My husband can feel them too. Just wondering if anyone as the same issues?

I also have lots of lumps (approx 1/2" dia up to 1" dia) under the skin on my arms. I have had 6 or 7 removed over the years - all were biopsied and all are just benign lipomas (fatty lumps). My dr. says they don't know what causes them. I am thin, eat healthy and have no history of cancer. Hope this helps.

Fatty leg and arm lumps
To kimt,
Frustrating, isn't it? I have same lumps, and a top cosmetic surgeon told me it is fatty (sebaceous) tissue, and can only be removed by cutting them out, which can leave a bigger scar than the lump, so leave it. My response to (arrogant and lacking empathy) him, "pretend I'm a new car and I just leave every dent or mark that happens, pretty soon, I'm going to look like crap, and I WON,T let that happen. Upon further exhaustive research, have heard dermatologists can inject, (like they do for smaller cystic acne),phosphatidlycholine or steroidss, to break them up. A chinese-trained, acupuncturist, said inject herbs that metabolize fat, reduce carbs, lose weight, etc. Someone said put iodine on and it draws toxins to the surface....I am soooo sick of the search, yet plan to try all. Let me know if you hear of anything better. Here's to good looks, and not giving them up without a Huge fight...I'm NOT! Annie697

Annie,
I am 27 and I have been accumulating these lumps on my thighs for the past 10 years. It started with only a few, but now I have about 25 on each thigh, front, back, and sides all varying in size. Some are up to an inch or more! Some of them hurt when pressure is applied, and some don't. It is extrememly frusterating. I try not to think about it, dont wear shorts or swimsuits anymore. My legs used to be one of my best features and now I have to hide them! The lumps are very noticeable in bright light and the bigger ones are even blueish in color. On some of the other posts, I noticed people saying it may be related to stress. Well I can see how there might be a connection there, I guess. Im a single mom of a four year old and have one on the way. I have always worked two jobs and taken classes, tried to juggle friendships and relationships on the side, and in general am just a very busy woman. I dont have time to deal with this problem that is quickly becoming a very big deal. When I take time to feel them and look at them, and think about them I just get upset and depressed, then busy myself with something else to think about. My doctor also says "dont worry about it", but I am very worried. They are unsightly, painful, and just plain scary. If you do try some of these different methods please let me know if you get any good results. I am ready to fight back!

Rachael, Your description sounds very familiar. I have the same kind of lumps on my legs and one on my wrist. I have also had blood clots 4 different times during my adult life, so every time I get a new lump I "freak" a little on the inside. I totally get what you mean...I try not think about them, but it is difficult at times. I have not given uphope of finding out what or why these lumps appear. I am the type of person who needs answers. Lee

I have several fatty tumors on my arms. The doc decided to remove the first one and do a biopsy--in his clinic.
Have to say he was sweatting bullets by the time he was done. He had to cut the "tumor" out and sew me back up.
It was benign thank god, but I have 3 more tumors growing and he said--hospital this time. All the docs say--if it doesnt hurt, leave it alone. Well geez, my left arm with 2 huge lumps looks disgusting and disfiguring, but what to do? A small one is growing on my right forearm above the wrist on the veins. He wont touch that one. Thanks for letting me vent. Carol

fatty lump
I have one forever on my outer right thigh it is flesh tone so it's not really noticable. I have had 3 shoulder surgeries in the past 2 years and began having to stand on my tippy toes to flip an egg and that's when I noticed a numbness and tingling in the top of my right thigh as well as a lot of pain now when it gets damp out or I walk a lot. I wa looking to see if they can adhere to a nerve because now when I am not moving it's like a dull throbbing. I have asked many drs. ortho''s Gp's and GYN's all say nothing to worry, however I have had adhesions nearly kill me when they wtapped themselves around a vein and ruptured it causing me to bleed internally.

I am going to ask my dr. to do a ultra sound or MRI tomake sure it is not pressing or adhering to a major nervein my leg. I am sorry for your pain good luck.

I too have these lumps. My came after I experienced a highly stressful situation. My first appeared on my arm after my dad died when I was 6. I didn't have anymore until this last year when my daughter was born 4 months premature. My arms and legs are covered with them. Stress causes your body to release oil, which can then clog and create these fatty deposits. Has anyone noticed they got them after a stressful incident?

i found a lump on my upper thigh area on my leg. It's under the skin . After reading and researching the internet to find out what it was and being just about scared half out of my witts with the numerous posts and medical libraries available online, I went to the doctor. It's called a fatty tissue (superficial) lump . Since its under the skin and really not noticeable they said not to worry about it. I also had a sonogram done, which revealed the same thing..fatty tissue. I wanted to post on this site to let people know to not search the internet for a medical opinion you may end up misdiagnosing yourself. Go to the doctors office and get a specialist to provide the medical diagnosis is better than surfing around the web trying to figure out what is wrong.

I have all of the above, I would like to know if anyone has any pain from these lumps. I was going to a chiropractor because of the pain in my arms due to lumps under my skin. It helped a lot I stop going, now the pain is back. I have also notice that each time I have this problem I had stop going to the gym...doing some light weights I often wondered if doing weights and stopping could contribute to the problem. I have not gone to the doctor about my arms but I did go with a pea size lump on my left side which he told me it was Lipoma and not to worry about it. Some of the research i did said the main cause is poor circulation.

fatty tumors
I had one resting on a nerve on the front of my thigh and it hurt to lift my leg driving.. It was under so much pressure the surgeon said it popped out of my body on its own. I have many many more.....but beware.....I had the surgery done many years ago and now it is difficlt for me to get health insurance because I had a pre-exising "tumor"...so only have procedures done as a last resort.

Lipomas om legs and arms
I, too, have several of these lipomas in my thighs ( both legs) and upper arms (both arms), and yes they are painful. My husband was patting my leg and I had to ask him to stop because it hurt. My doctor has also told me to leave them alone, that it will leave scars if I tried to have them all removed. It is not attractive.

I also, have them in the back of my legs and they seem to always be sore, I'am a single mom, and I just beg the kids too gently rub vapor rub on them, to soothe the pain, I also think there getting in the way of veins because my knees have little ones, I'am always scared there going to cause some kind of blockage. O'man.

Elaine, I am 35 years old and also have small lumps under my skin on my inner left forearm. I work out regularly, but just started doing some arm weights and the pain started in. I have had them under my arm for probably about a year now with just some tenderness and swelling at the lateral aspect of my elbow. Massage seems to help, I just figured they were cysts or fat deposits (large fat cells?). Btw, I have no history of poor circulation.

I have discovered 6 lumps on my legs. They are placed under the skin embedded within the tissues. They dont hurt and I can only feel them when I run my hand over the skin. I have experinecd radiating pain in legs. Just wondering if Dwollf had any furter diagnosis from GP re pain?

One has ben there for over a year and when I visited doctor she said it was fatty tissues and not to worry. Last week I felt one had grown in size! I have exercised regularly and do leg and arm weights. I have noticed 2 surfacing on my arms too but no radiating pain.

Do you think I should go for biopsy to be sure?

Lumps under the skin
Lately I've noticed more. Several years ago I saw a dermatologist and he said I was going to be a diabetic when I got older and also asked if I did recreational drugs??? No,I do not! Never have! I have these lumps on my thighs, lower inner arms, and I feel some on my abdomen. I'd like to think they're fatty deposits. I'm scared!
