Q: fat lip

My son who is 22 months old fell and hit his head--right on the lip.
This happened yesterday, and it bled like crazy because I saw he'd cut open the inside of his lip. There is also scratching on his chin. I'd given him Children's Tylenol yesterday and he seemed to be fine, but this morning he woke up with the whole side of his lip swollen. Is there anything I should be doing other than giving him Tylenol? He won't let me put ice or anything cool on it.

There isn't much that you can do if he doesn't want a cold compress. He might not mind carrying around a cool wet washcloth himself. Mouth bleeds are always very messy and scary looking. I don't know why! The nice thing is that they heal more quickly than some other wounds.

Just make sure that there was no damage to his teeth or gum and he will be fine in a few days. You did well Smile
