I weigh about 294 pounds, i also have a
little bit of muscle, but i am more fat
than anything, i think i am starting to
get pre-Type II Diabetes, and i want to do
something about it, i was reading about
fasting, and that it is a good way to
recover your health and lose weight. i
read after fasting you will feel more
energetic, your metabolism will increase,
thus making me active, helping me lose
weight. i know there is really two kinds
of fasting, Juice Fasting, and Water
Fasting. Water Fasting is more effective,
and max days is about 10. and then juice
fasting is slower but you can fast up to
30 days. i dont want my blood sugar to dip
low causing me to get shaky, so would
juice fasting be the way to go? i was also
talking to my mom about it, and she said
it might be better for me to condition
myself for fasting, such as fast for one
day, and get your body used to going into
that state. but i dont know if it is
healthy to keep your body fluctuating
between fasting and normal eating.
I think this about wraps it up for my
questions. i do appreciate your time in
reading this, and i want to know how to do
this right.
Thanks very much.

Oh my...
No, fasting is not the way to go. What
fasting will do is slow down your
metabolic rate, so when you finish your
fast and go back to eating, you'll gain
all your weight back twice as fast. You'll
lose water weight, nothing else.
I'm going to come back online in a little
bit and I'll post some things you can
include (and take out of) your daily diet
to help prevent diabetes. Just know that
it will only really be done with a
lifestyle change and better diet.

I double checked things with the American
Diabetes Association, which you may want
to check in to. I can pm you the link if
you'd like.
What I didn't know was not only did
fasting slow your metabolic rate, but it
also effects your body's ability to handle
insulin-- neither are beneficial. However,
if you still feel like fasting is how
you'd like to do things then please
make sure you do so under the supervision
of a doctor.
Here are some small guidelines:
Non-starchy fruits and vegies
High fiber foods and non-processed grains
Water-- and lots of it!
Low fat dairy products
Fish, skinless chicken and other lean
meats
Healthy cooking oils
Try and cut back on high calorie snacks
Small portion sizes
Exercise is also extremely important.
Whether you plan to fast or not, you may
still want to speak with a doctor to make
sure what changes need to be made.

Experience with fasting Posted: 07-13-08 08:32am
I have years of experience with fasting.
Mainly due to being anorexic but
regardless it still has the same effects
on everyone. Fasting has its benefits but
it also has some hazards...
-You will be malnutritioned and you will
have Dry Skin and Hair, Brittle Hair and
Nails, Hair Loss
-Insomnia - You will have problems falling
and/or staying asleep.
-You will think about food ALL day and
when you do finally eat you will binge on
unhealthy foods and overeat.
-You will experience side effects of
fatigue, malaise, aches and pains,
emotional duress, acne, dizziness,
headaches, allergies, swelling, vomiting,
bad breath, and symptoms of colds and flu.
-You will have extremely low energy levels
and tierd all the time
-Blacking out is common when fasting
-When you do finally eat EVERYTHING will
immediately turn to fat
But if you are going to fast still please
read up on it. There are many hazards to
it. Ad when coming off a fast it is very
important how to get back into eating so
your digestive system can function
properly.
