Ive seen several responses with regards to Famotidine -

Famotidine (INN) (pronounced /fəˈmɒtɪdiːn/) is a histamine H2-receptor antagonist that inhibits stomach acid production, and is commonly used in the treatment of peptic ulcer disease (PUD) and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD/GORD). It is commonly marketed by J&J/Merck under the trade names Pepcidine and Pepcid (1)

Pepcid COMPLETE (avaliable over the counter) - also combines calcium carbonate & milk of magnesia MOM ( magnesium hydroxide) as ant-acids... MOM (Ph 10.5) is usually taken as a laxative, but in smaller doses it can be used as an ant-acid...

I saw the email resonse from one of our Gout guys that claims the famotidine is helping the gout.... I have started taking the Pepcid to see if it will help ... I am currently having an attack....

For 2 days now I have been taking two pepcid tablets morning & night...
I have to say its sems to be helping...

I can also say that I have also taken lots of C-bicarb with no relief... so maybe the famotidine is helping...

My understanding of anti-acids is that it turns off the acid pumps in your stomach. They do NOT change the alkalinity of your body.

If you are feeling better then I suspect it is your brain more than those pills.
