Q: False positive ANA test results

Can a active genital herpes outbreak at the time of the ANA test affect the result?

Herpes and Genital Warts Answer A4525
Certain chronic infectious diseases, such as mononucleosis, hepatitis C virus infection, subacute bacterial endocarditis, tuberculosis, lymphoproliferative diseases, and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) can cause false positive ANA test.
There are no data that genital herpes outbreak can cause false positive ANA-test.

Certain medications, such as hydralazine, isoniazid, procainamide, and some anticonvulsant medications can also cause false positive ANA test.
