What is the possibility of a test for AIDS coming back false positive due to the following contributing factors or what would be your diagnosis and where can i start or go for medical help....
GENETIC FACTORS
from my dads side of the family i know:
-we are of European decent and have a minute portion of indian blood in our tree
-my great grammy was lactose intolerant and had poor vision
-my grandma has gastrointestinal problems, is overweight, poor vision, lactose intolerant
-grandpa was def in left ear and had psoriasis and ecezma
-uncle had gout, also def in left ear, was diabetic but not till later in life, degenerative bone disease, gets infection easily, mood swings
-dad is same as grandpa plus has fibromyalgia, degen. disc disease, mood swings, extreme fatigue(came on suddenly 10yrs ago) acne and eczema and is def in left ear
-aunt has mood swings, diabetic, chronic pain from carpal tunnel, acne, eczema, patchy chest when nervous
-my only full brother has psoriasis is also def in left ear, had pink eye and got styes often in his child hood
MY OWN FACTORS...
Since my early childhood I've experienced the following health issues on a regular basis:
-allergies to milk, pet dander to cat and some dogs, allergic to grass and molds and some metal alloys found in gold
-urinary tract and/or bladder infections, yeast infections, irregular menstrual/late starting menstrual(15 ),
-problems w/chronic sore throat, swollen glands and/or lymph nodes, cankers, cold sores, tonsils(seem to be related to period and stress), (4or5)abscess teeth, trench mouth/mono at 15yrs old and similar at 39
-bruise easily, low iron, anemia, vertigo, hives, splotchy marks on chest when nervous, severe cystic acne (developed @ 14), butterfly rash appears on face sometimes
-cramping, in arch of feet or in my side as if i were running
-easily fatigued, slept alot even as a child
PLUS....
From adolescence through my adulthood I've experienced symptoms listed above plus the following health issues on a regular basis:
-low body temp, heart palpitations w/exercise,
-focal seizures,
-at 15 was tested for herpes (i had no prior sexual experience) because a Dr. observed an unusual ulcer near my labia, result was neg. If i am extremely stressed i may get another which takes up to 1mo to heal and has ever been 1 ulcer site 6-7 times in my adult life total
-3 miscarriages and 4 live births, 3 of 4 babies were born premature(2wks, 6or7wks, 11wks), i was told from start that my system attacks the pregnancy like it is a disease so they considered me high risk and the c section site got bad infection 2 of the 3 deliveries
-At around 20yrs old i noticed a strange lesion on my eye that i only see when i am very tired or spacing off in a daydream, its like lint? -since i was in my late 20's i have sometimes experienced a strange twisting sensation in my lower stomach when i bend over (to towel wrap my head) that's fleeting but painful and i cannot ever get a medical explanation for it?
-i also have had lower flank/back/kidney pain after any lengthy rest period, needing help to stand since about same time period
-for the past 15yrs i have had extreme fatigue episodes and get disoriented easily like blood sugar levels are poor, also as i've gotten older i have developed worse mood swings, anxiety episodes, bouts of depression and occasionally have experienced an inability to make simple decisions
-30yrs old i noticed a hard pea sized lump under my chin that would sometimes hurt and sometimes go away for awhile i also noticed shortly after that a lump under my arm pit (it's came and gone maybe 3-5 times since)
-At 32yrs old i was told i had hypothyroidism and a high # of white blood cells so infection was probable plus a an usual number of A- Typical cells present so she sent me to a specialist for a biopsy but shortly after her diagnosis i had a UA and blood test come back with a false negative result for pregnancy so when i appeared before the specialist he ran a test and told me i was expecting, then he postponed the biopsy. 1yr later a new Dr. from my same clinic did a follow up on me and said my tests were all ok
-during that pregnancy that my excessive weight gain caused bone crushing pelvic pain which i still experienced now & then(8-10 times)
-hospitalized 1mo after last delivery4 yrs ago for allegedly having 11 days for plural effusion/pneumonia episode (Could it of been mrsa? The time line is right, isn't it?)
-4yrs ago a kidney infection/bladder infection i had grew out as staph, I was treated with Tequin but developed hives and gastro intestinal problems
-3yrs ago i also developed an ear infection where clear fluid leaked from my ear causing a severe rash on my throat below the ear where the drainage occured, it moved to the back of my head and cont. to drain fluid for nearly a year before it finally went away. (since then my scalp itches daily in a terrible way!)

OTHER AND FINAL ISSUES WITH SIGNIFICANT VALUE
-my recent tests say positive for thromboembolism qual(?)and instruct medical staff to use caution when interpreting results because i am a sero-negative person????
-3yrs ago i moved home and i just found out a week ago that our house is growing toxic mold (from a human waste spill improperly cleaned up) on top of being on a fault line in area known for high radon and very close to 2 major freeways,
-my tap water is a bit on the hard side and it ph's at 8.5 to 9 plus were located down stream at the bottom of the canyon from a large closed down mining operation and a granite quarry or two.
-finally it may also be of interest that i've previously worked for 14yrs as an engineering tech. where i was testing soil, concrete and asphalt and operated a nuke gauge. testing was done using several harmful chemicals and i was exposed to ???? who knows?!
-3 weeks later i ended up in the ER and after a series of tests and x-rays was told i had pharyngitis, but i still have a hole/lump in my throat w/white pockets on my tonsil area, no fever or oral form of vd, i'm also negative for strep/staph and its been 6 months with no sign of going away so it's not likely it's pharyngitus??
-The day after the ER visit i was shocked when i was told i'm in the late stages of having AIDS! Nobody i know has AIDS, my 3 partners from 12yrs prior have all been tested and all are neg?
**PLS REMEMBER I HAD 2 PRIOR 'NEGATIVE' AIDS/HIV TESTS from 4&7yrs AGO after my last 2 deliveries. Diagnosing me as being in the final stage of AIDS when it has never been previously detected in any tests is unlikely..... plus it's just not correct, period!
So, anyone got any ideas?? Suggestions???
Thank you for your help no matter what and god be with you all, peace....

I am no expert, but I don't think any of your previous history would have anything to do with the results of an HIV test. The tests are extremely accurate, especially the blood tests. They check for a specific anitibody your body would only produce if you were positive. If they have said you have AIDS, they have also done other tests measuring your counts. You have to be below a specific count to be considered to have AIDS. As for the men in your life that say they are negative, I have known many people to deny their status or plainly not ever go get tested and say that they did and were negative. Unless you were there with all three of them at the testing and heard the doctor say negative, I wouldn't trust it. AT this point, it doesn't matter where you got it. You have it and must deal with it. You appear to be in denial which is very common. It is not a death sentence if you make the decision to fight it and take good care of yourself. Get retested if you must, as many times as you want. Just listen to your doctor, stay on the meds they give you, excerise, eat right and get some counseling. If you have four children, it seems to me you have a lot to live for. I hope the best for you.

Hi Mar
Through your entire post one thing stuck out the most....your butterfly rash. My friend has Lupus and she has almost all the signs you are showing..it took four years and 7 doctors to come to the conclusion that she has lupus. They did a test on her, it came back as a false positive on a syphilis test...one of the signs is a false positive.

I would go to your health care provider and ask for them to test you for Lupus...its a long process and you may even be told you have Hashimoto's disease and or Sjogren's Syndrome......

Just go get checked out with those things in mine...they are autoimmune diseases.

I hope this helps.

false positive AIDS/HIV test results
thank you for your suggestion koi ai! I will be looking into it now that i have the proof i needed that my test result was a false positive Very Happy
And feeling empty, i am sorry that you feel empty and i will pray for you as well. Since posting my question i've been able to do some research and am confident that your suggestion that i buck up and accept that i do have the virus when i DO NOT IN FACT HAVE THE VIRUS, is the very same type of thing that could kill a person if they didn't have the good sense not to pay attention to the suggestions of one who has not educated themselves in the matter which the question was posed upon!Therefor i suggest to you that you may want to re-think answering questions on medical forums armed only with your uneducated opinion as you could cause some one to loose hope and lost hope is the very thing responsible for more deaths per year than the AIDS virus is!
