Q: Falling sensation in lungs

i recently contracted something which had me coughing constantly (unproductive) with a scratchy awful pain in my lungs and throat and body aches. i'm over the body aches now and the coughing and throat/lung pain is much less severe, although i'm still quite weak. the one symptom that hasn't improved is a funny sensation in my lungs. the only way i can describe it is that it's exactly like the feeling i get in my stomach when i free-fall on a rollercoaster, or going over a steep hill in the car or down in an express elevator - but this sensation is in my lungs and i feel it with every breath. the deeper the breath, the more intense the sensation. what is this and is there anything i can do/take to relieve it?
