I have a wonderful Neurologist that my ortho sent me to. I was diagnosed with moderate to severe cervical stenosis . It causes random pain and numbness down arms....

I also have numbness on left side of face....eye, cheek, tongue and now the side of my head.......I have had these symptoms for over a year......

My ortho and my Neuro both said that the numbness in face is NOT from stenosis but from the brain. I am waiting for the results of an MRI on the brain..

In the meantime I was sent by my Neuro to a pain management Doc. He spent an hour yesterday explaining how the upper vertebrae that are arthritic CAN be pinching on facial nerves.....he thinks all of the numbness is from the neck. That is what it FEELS like to me......

What do I do when I go back to the Neuro....tell him what the Pain doctor said....how can I argue with a top notch neurosurgeon??? Do I keep my mouth shut??
don't want to start a war of the doctors.....

I am hoping the MRI of brain will be negative and I can at least get rid of this anxiety.

Go with your GUT!!!
Spent over 2 years "visiting" over 20 doctors/specialists, many of which were "top-notch" and becoming more and more disheartened, frustrated and disgusted with the med. profession. Then I realized no one knows me and my body better than me and I wasn't going to waste another minute doing some treatment or keeping my mouth shut when I KNEW it wasn't "right" Thank God I realized this, the next specialist I saw was absolute sh@# and I actually let him know. Then the last specialist I saw gave me the diagnosis that I KNEW was correct. Two weeks later I was scheduled for "emergency" spinal fusion at two different levels in my cervical (neck) region. The day after surgery I woke up with none of the pain or symptoms I had before going in. It was a miracle, a second chance....so from personal experience I can tell you don't be afraid to speak up, IT'S YOUR BODY....YOUR LIFE!!! And if a doctor is a good one and truly top-notch, he/she should not be intimidated or get upset over a second opinion. They should suggest second opinions! Hope this helps
