My daughter is 17, and has been having a constant stomach ache around her belly button area, with bad nausea, vomitting, absolutely no fever, at times is very clammy, she has lost over 6 lbs in 5 days and is very tired. Her Dr. diagnosed her with gastritis 4 days ago, I really feel like its more than that. She is not feeling any better at all. She recently had to have 6 Facet Joint injections to her back and was on Ibuprofen at that time, he thinks that is what has caused her gastritis. He has her on Nexium and no relief whatsoever.

Extremely eHealthy
The most frequent side effects of using ibuprofen are gastrointestinal ones, including stomach and intestines inflammation, ulcers, bleeding and impaired food digestion (feeling sick, loss of appetite).
Duodenum inflammation or ulcer (first part of intestine following the stomach), is usually affected when ibuprofen and other NSAIDs are used.
She should pay attention to the color of her stool. Stomach bleeding can give tarry, black stools, that warrants immediate medical attention.
Her physician can switch Nexium, acid pump inhibitor, with other classes of drug, like antacids or acid blockers.

Best wishes!

We finally had an endoscopy done and found she has 3 ulcers in the lower part of her stomach - he has her on Nexium, Carafate, and Phenegran for now hopefully this will take care of this. She has lost 10 lbs now and is still very weak.
