If the eye pain is experienced during migraine attack, it is a migraine symptom.
If the eye pain is more prominent when moving the eyeball, it could be optic neuritis.
Eye pain or pain above the eye may be a sign of sinusitis.
Eye pain, one sided headache, tenderness and sensitivity on the scalp, blurred vision or double vision, it could be a case of giant cell arteritis.

However, you should see your physician for examination and true diagnosis.

the pain is on its own..i.e. no headache at that point of time.
