Q: Eye irritation after chalazion recovery

Hi, I had chalazion near the corner of lower left eyelid about 6 months ago. I didn't get it treated while it was growing as i thought it would completely go away just like my other chalazion on my upper eyelid. It kept hurting and growing bigger for about 3 weeks. After waking up from sleep on the 3rd week, my vision on left eye was all blurry, so i washed my eye and pulled down my lower lid and saw yellow pus coming out from the inside of my eyelid. So i squeezed as softly and slowly as i could and eventually it all came out. I thought it was strange that it burst from inside the lid but at that moment i was glad that it's gone.

Right now, my left eye feels completely irritated every single day. I dont know how to explain it but it feels sore every second and i feel pressure on my eyeball. It gets itchy almost all the time. When i pull down my eyelid down to look at it, there's access flesh when i compare it to my right eye, it's darker, red and looks like it shouldn't be there. It has a slight puffiness and when i try to concentrate on something, like my school work, that's when it gets itchy and i just have to rub my eye. It's really annoying i could feel it every second and i think it's making me anxious especially during classes.

I'm 20 this year and really need to solve the problem. I went to see 3 docs in the past 5 months they gave me artificial tears, and 2 more eyedrops im not sure about, which caused my eye to be red. I quit taking them.

What should i do about this?
Would blepharoplasty help?

Thanks.

It is very possible that you have a chronic inflammation of the eye lids, known as blepharitis.
Eye discomfort, redness, tearing, burning, itching, light sensitivity, and an irritating, sandy, gritty sensation that is worse upon awakening, are symptoms of blepharitis.
There are few types of blepharitis, but, you are more likely to have Staphylococcal blepharitis, that often leads to stye or chalazion formation.

Usually, treatment of blepharitis is a process, which must be carried out for prolonged periods of time.
Useful medications in the treatment of blepharitis may include topical antibiotics, topical corticosteroids, and oral antibiotics.
Treatment can be initiated with proper eyelid hygiene and topical (local) eyelid antibiotic ointment.

Im really thankful, i didn't think anyone would answer.

Totally thanks!I looked up blepharitis and yep i do have it, which explains why i had sties and chalazions on my eye so much last year. I'm taking care of it right now and so far i had none for the past 5 months.

When the chalazion burst, it burst quite deep on the inside of my eyelid, about a centimeter deep, there's access skin after it recovered. That skin's rough against the eyeball.

But yep eye doc's a good idea:P

will visit my doc for a referral to the opthalmologist probably tmr! I'm just getting, really agitated.

Thanks again
