Hi
I'm 18 years old and I have a chronic yeast infection. Not chronic as in it occurs every couple of months, but chronic as in, within a week or two after it is treated/ends, I am struck with another one. I had had multiple yeast infections over the years but recently they have become near constant. I do EVERYTHING right, I think, I mean, I bathe regularly, I don't wear tight fitting clothes, I'm very hygienic about myself, change undies regularly etcetera. And it absolutely sucks! The symptoms also have slightly changed over time. Its all very weird and frustrating. I have basically had a near constant yeast infection for a year or more now. I have tried treating it with so many things, and I always do them all the way through. I have even tried 'natural' methods with yogurt or garlic. It always leaves when I treat it and then returns in time depending on the strength of the medicine I took. Anyways, I have no idea what to do. I can't figure out what I'm eating wrong. Has anyone else experienced this? How do you treat it? I have been to many gyns and they always just prescribe me new meds or the same ones, and it always goes away temporarily.

Hey Kay,

Bummer...me, too. Chronic Y-I's. I hate them, too. It's gotten to the point where I barely have an oral sex w/ my partner because of it. I found some information with the National Library of Medicine about vaginal diseases. The links are all to government sites...and are really informative. It seems like "Goldenseal" is one alternative treatment, which is used to treat vaginitis.

Hey rooted,

so u dont have oral sex becuase of yeast infections?
why is that...does it make the yest infection worst and more itchy...
because i think that has happened to me.
i kno i dont hav an std because i got checked..and they said i had a yeast infection.
but it hasnt been that bad lately...but i recently received oral sex and after that it was very itchy and red...but i know he doesnt hav an std.
so its not that...but i get paranoid easily.
so do u think that it could be from a yeast infection?

He doesn't like oral sex because he is put off by the smell. I haven't noticed any increase in symptoms after oral sex, though it is possible. It's also possible that your sexual partner transferred a yeast infection from his tongue to you --- candida can live on the top of the tongue. It is called "thrush". But this is more of a systemic illness...which can be transmitted sexually.
