Q: extreme PMS

Over the last few months I've noticed that my mood swings during PMS have gotten really bad. I cry for hours and I find joy in just about nothing. This time was so bad that I even considered hurting myself physically to make the emotional pain stop. I have never been so low before. Is there something I can do for this? Normally I'm a very emotionaly stable person and would never even dream of hurting myself or feeling like there is no way for me to become happy. I only feel this way while I PMS. Any adivice is greatly appreciated.

For some women, the symptoms pf PMS are severe enough to interfere with their lives. No one knows what causes PMS, but hormonal changes trigger the symptoms. No single PMS treatment works for everyone. Avoiding salt, caffeine and alcohol, exercising and getting enough sleep can also help.
