Hi all. Please i need your advice

I detected a lump in my right breast early in the prgnancy and told my then ante natal doctor about it. He said from all he saw and checked it is beningn but cant say with so much authority as a biopsy is the best to tell whether it is bening or malignant. And that i cant do any thing during the pregnancy until i put to bed.

I was attended to by another ante doctor ydy. I asked him if the lump in the right breast won't affect the breastfeeding of my baby. He checked it, said the lump was movable and referred me to a surgeon.

The surgeon said as a matter of urgency, I should do an excission biopsy which will tell whether it is malignant or benign. I asked him if it was safe to do such during preg and he said it does not affect the pregnancy in any way and that the excission wont take more than 10/15 mins. He sounded sure of himself but i want to be double sure that it wont affect mybaby and the breast feeding of my baby.

Pls i need you input in this matter.
This will be highly appreciated.
I'm trying so hard not to be worried.

Thanks.

i'd say go with the excisional bx asap. Breast cancer is not to be fooled around with. If they say it wont interfere with breast feeding it likely wont. You have mannny lobules in the breast which produce milk. And if you're worried about pain, you should be all healed and back to normal in the 4 weeks you have left. As i understand it's a simple procedure, done with local freezing of the area (i may be wrong). It's probably fairly small and simple to remove. They just stitch everything back up afterwards.
Good luck.
