This is a long one. Back in March, I found out I was pregnant. 5 weeks later I thought I miscarried - I had cramping, bleeding on the toilet for hours, and finally passed a large clot. Then, the next day I started getting sick, throwing up and not being able to eat, smells were making me sick and I felt awful. Went to the dr. and found out I was still pregnant. I couldn't stop throwing up. Every thirty minutes. I could keep nothing down. I could not get out of bed except to run to the toilet to vomit. I did this for two weeks. I run three companies that my father started, and he had a stroke last year and was no longer able to work as before, and then right before I got pregnant we found out he had stage four cancer...so meanwhile I'm vomiting and can't work, but no one could run the companies, and I couldn't stop throwing up. I finally decided that I could not complete the pregnancy after two weeks of this and having to have my mom or boyfriend spoon feed me cranberry juice just to get something in my system. Oh, and I didn't have insurance.
When I terminated the pregnancy, the doctor told me that I would probably have bled more, probably eventually would have miscarried, and she could see where a large part of the placenta had been bled out when I thought I miscarried. I went on the NuvoRing the week after.
I continued to bleed my whole first month of the Nuvoring, but the dr said it would go away after I got my next period, which it did. Until a few weeks later when spotting started again. Then I had an episode where within 15 minutes I was in the car and had completely bled through my jeans - and it was not time for my period. I went back to the dr and she suggested I go on a higher estrogen birth control (so I went on Femcon FE with 35 estrogen) to build my uterine lining which she assumed was too thin and caused the bleeding.
Two weeks on Femcon and I had an episode where I had to run to the toilet and bled for 20 minutes as as strong of a flow as though it were a stream of constant urine. Then I got my period 2 weeks later, but it started with another episode like the one just described with 20 minutes on the toilet non-stop bleeding. Then the dr put me on Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo. This was a month ago. I've had the worst month since. I had two weeks with NO bleeding, no spotting...thought everything was cleared up. Then two weeks before my period was supposed to start, I started with the episodes of bleeding again. Finally this past Sunday I had a 30 minute episode (after a week of episodes everyday, some with clots the size of apples), and my boyfriend came in the bathroom and found me passed out on the floor still bleeding. I went to the ER and they ran all kinds of tests, found basically nothing. They wrote that there was a "questionable fibroid" but they weren't even sure (whatever it is is very small if there is even anything). I've been weak and had horrible headaches since. Not on birth control anymore, but I went to a specialist today who still didn't know what was going on, and wanted to put me on a different birth control with different hormones, which I refused because I want to take away as many variables as I can. They're going to do another ultrasound in two more weeks when it will be time for another one of my episodes if I get one again. What is wrong with me? I've never had anything abnormal before all of this - always had regular periods with no cramping or heavy bleeding at all. This is so scary and my boyfriend won't let me be by myself, he drives me to work and picks me up and when he's working I have to be with someone. Any ideas?
