Ice craving can sometimes be a sign of anemia. It's called "pica" if you crave something with no nutritional value.

Get your iron levels checked out!

I also found that hormonal imbalances can cause the ice craving. When I was pregnant that's almost all I ate, but my iron levels were absolutely perfect every time I had them tested.

The craving always goes away a few weeks after the baby is born.

wow!!!! i have finally found someone else who eats ice, i did it with all three of my pregnancys even in the car on way tp delivery one...
everyone thought i was nuts(particulary as i needed to sniff the hoover before hand too)!!...
each went away instantly after birth till the last, that one came back, though not so severe just occasionly get sudden cravings, my iron levells were normal too..
just had to post cos have searched the net for the last 6 years trying to find other peoples so i didn't seem strange, my doctors and midwives hadn't heard of it either...yey!!! thankyou!!

wow i am so glad there is other ppl who share my addiction of ice..i eat ice morning day and night..it really is an addiction but i dont want to stop i love it too much!! i dont drink or smoke maybe we all need some addiction lol

I agree. I can't think of a healthier way to be addicted.
