Hi,

This might be a silly question to ask but to me it just seems irregular! Everyday it feels to me that I flatulate in a matter that is excessive. I can easily that it happen atleast 50 times a day. If I try to hold it in, it feels uncomfortable after a short time.

Is there any medical treatment for this?

TKS!

50 times a day is excessive as the normal is right around 12 for the average person.

Have you seen a gastrologist? She/he would be able to help identify the culprit(s) as you may have an underlying issue going on. Do you eat a lot of gassy foods?

You must be 100% honest with your healthcare provider even for things that may seem silly to you may be the key symptom that is required to pinpoint an appropriate dx and a game plan to get you back on track.

Agreed, Zig.

What goes in is what comes out, and each body reacts differently to foods. Most probably, there is something in the diet which is causing the flatulence. The trick is to find it and stop consuming it. The most common cuplrit is dairy, so if you eliminate butter, milk, eggs, cheese, etc. from your diet for a week, you can test this theory.

Hi Guys! Thanks for your info! I was really hoping you were going to say 50 was average!

I'm not sure what is gassy foods, but if you do mean dairy products I don't really eat alot of it because I'm living in China and apart from Egg, the Chinese don't really have much of dairy. It could be something in the ingredients they use in the foods I suppose cause I'm sure I didn't use to be this bad!

But I will surely go see a gastrologist!

Tks again!

Also ask your gastrologist about digestive enzymes...that might help....

Good luck,

Perhaps you are reacting to a chemical that is in the food...do the Chinese use MSG or (monosodium glutamate)? THere is actually a disorder named Chinese restaurant syndrome .

Barring this possibility, the gas may be caused by the oil in your food.

While you're in China, why not see a traditional acupuncturist? They can look at your tongue, will check your pulse, and can diagnose based on these observations. It has worked for me in the past!

Not true with me. I stopped eating carbohydrates and they stopped. I now only pass gas about 4 times a day.

Before I stopped eating carbs I had so much flatulence I couldn't bend or move without it blasting out loudly and incontrollably.... so embarrasssing!
